I think you are point here. May be could do soul searching and decide on
which platform / Constituencies to stick with.

I respect Dave but I do not think accepting the nomination is ideal unless
he wants to relinquish the current position, which is matter of good
corperate practice.

 It's not healthy and I hope he will receive your counsel in good light.
