Thanks for sharing this document, Farzi. I think the NCSG may have had five
travel slots to the IGF approved in total? There are another three slots
allocated on page 14 - one for NPOC, one for NCUC, and one for NCSG. So that's
another one, maybe two supported places, for us. All this pales in comparison,
however, to some of the other projects listed as approved in that document, like
eight travel slots to the IETF for RSSAC and the BC's approved request for
“Leadership Development & Support”. I also see that RALO and others received
funding for real-time call captioning and translation, whereas our request was
denied.

Hello Ayden
I am glad that you find the updates useful.
The other workshop we submitted is : No. 86 Reality of the Answerability of
multistakeholder model. https://www.intgovforum.org/cms/igf2016/index.php/proposal/view_public/86
I think our request has been accepted for two travel slots. I have attached the
decision of FY17. On page 12 it states that:
FY17-36-NCUC - NCUC workshop at IGF/Mexico and outreach – Accountability in Global Internet Governance Guadalajara IGF Workshop Support (Yes)(8,000) Two travelers approved but granting of support is contingent on: 1) MAG
approval of panel; and 2) submission of detailed report from each traveler within 30-days
of meeting that addresses each itemized metric as per request (audience turnout/engagement at workshops, number of new NCUC members - LAC and Dev. Countries, number and diversity of contacts and relationships established,
number of bilaterals, number of existing NCUC members reached at IGF). Report to be
submitted to sbr-outcomes at icann.org and is condition of future resource allocations.
If one (or who knows both) of the workshops is approved, then we get back to the
community and discuss it.

Best
Farzaneh

Thanks for this, Farzi. I really appreciate these periodic updates and learning
about what the EC considers to be operational/strategic priorities for the
months ahead. I would like to hear a bit more about what the NCUC will be taking
forward to Guadalajara, provided the proposed workshop(s) are approved. I found
one of the proposals on the IGF website (the proposal, “the power of the
noncommercial users on the Internet”) but wasn't able to locate the second. I
like the gist of the first - is multistakeholderism useful or does it instead
just allow lobbyists to be legislators? - and will be interested to see how it
evolves between now and December. On this note; was the budget request for NCUC
attendance at the IGF approved?
Oh, and re: WSIS in Geneva. Thank you to Adam and the EC for your support and
for making this session possible. I will submit a report on this very soon, and
will share a transcript of the session if one becomes available.
Wishing you all a pleasant journey to Helsinki,
Ayden

Hi all ,
Here is another update from Brussels. EuroDIG is being held here. If you don't
know what EuroDIG is, ask me or go to their website: http://www.eurodig.org/ . I was funded to come here by EuroDIG Secretariat for doing some consultancy
work during the meeting, mainly coordinating remote participation. We have
tentatively scheduled an outreach (short announcement) with Tatiana Tropina and
I which will take place on Thursday at the end of the sessions. Ayden has kindly
shared a doodle for the NCUC and NCSG participants, here it is http://doodle.com/poll/h7ssy95fya35wchn . If you are here, fill in the doodle, we can have coffee at a coffee break. Or
attend our outreach announcement which will be very short on Thursday. I will
announce that soon.
We have submitted two workshop proposals to IGF to be considered. Due to time
constraint we could not consult with the community but you are free to comment
on them if they get accepted. Ayden also led a workshop at WSIS, which we supported his travel request.
We are going to make an announcement for CROPP proposals for FY17, so stay
tuned.
To prepare for Helsiniki, we need to sign up for various themes of WS2 of
accountability, if you are interested, the themes are in the google doc, you
need to sign up for the subject you are interested in at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Iw5yn9GRk8RcnTJzclwB-JuSe3B6JugEj_0oGOCseqU/edit?usp=sharing . If you are new, you need to also put in your email address.
As most of you know, Helsinki meeting is a policy meeting. If you are interested
in what policies you can engage with you should take part. The Sunday before the
official meeting is accountability day , working on work stream two issues.
We did not receive travel funding requests from Europe for Helsinki and no one
received funding from NCUC to travel to Helsinki in the end.
Let me know if you need more information.
