Hi Mili,
Reinforcing my previous message, the issue discussed back then was not travel slots, but people participating in multiple groups and potentially not dedicating themselves to the constituency. In other words, the problem here is stimulating more people who are not truly engaged to be part of NCSG and NCUC, as this is an issue we already have and may lead to further deterioration of the group, such as normalizing a lack of fulfillment even of the basic tasks/obligations.

To Pedro’s point, I think we at NCUC also have people with more than one position with their own travels slots… eg: Pedro and Amin are NCUC representatives to NCSG and NCUC EC members (even while it’s in the same constituency) both these positions come with travel slots and won’t it look a bit hypocritical on our part to set a rule against that when we are ourselves holding multiple positions with travel slots.
Just my two cents.

Hi all,
I was trying to find a solution, and Yao mentioned he'd need to apply for a visa at least 3 months in advance to be sure he would be able to get it. It is possible that he would still be able to get the visa on time, but it is not a certain thing, and because of that, Atif goes back to being my choice. This means we have 4 votes for him now.

Hi Namra, I think we are talking about two different processes. The discussion we had in the selection process of the FC was not about serving in two positions eligible for travel. The FC was not one of these, and I believe the person who was applying also was not in a position with a travel opportunity in NCSG or other groups.

As long as the person is 1. Contributing and active 2. Eligible. I don't see a problem. I don't think you can travel on two CROP slots anyway. The point made previously was about people serving in two positions that are both eligible for travel, that is when a travel slot is wasted.
This process (EC selection) is in place to avoid the exact circumstances you pointed out. NCSG/NCUC/NPOC is not a subsidiary opportunity and that is why we are here to filter out applications.
Let's finalize soon so the recipient can make timely arrangements.

Hmmm, so this is not a small issue.
We already discussed in previous selection processes about being in two groups at the same time (I think the most recent one in NCUC was in the NCUC FC application, although at NCSG level this was mentioned other times): it is not by itself a problem, as long as the person does not occupy positions/apply for travel slots in both, since this is a potential harmful practice for guaranteeing future engagement in non-commercial activities. When I talked with Atif back at the meeting, I was trying to steer him in the non-commercial direction. Other groups already do this filter, and I think it may be risky to create an image that NCSG/NCUC/NPOC is a subsidiary opportunity.
The thing here is that I'm not comfortable with denying an application for someone under a reasoning that is not always applied (I don't know if others also share the same reasoning), as it feels unfair to the person denied. If we choose to proceed with Atif, which is still a possibility, I think it would be important to establish a clear guideline on that, so we can also put this in the Operating Procedures and avoid inconsistency. Should we accept those situations or not, and, if yes (again, I believe this is a choice, not a problem in itself), overall or under certain circumstances?

Hi Andrea,
Thank you for the update.
From Adarsh Bu’s LinkedIn profile, it looks like he is based in Hyderabad, India—unless he has recently moved to Europe. Would you mind sending him an email to confirm? I guess that we must ask the same for Mohamad Atief.
Also, could you please remind us of the deadline for deciding about the name.
Best ,
