[NCUC-EC] URGENT - Extension in nomination Period ? Please reply

Hey all,

I am still waiting from your answers on this matter. It is obviously urgent
and we need to present the constituency a decision tomorrow morning.

>From what I understand we have three options:

(a) Extend the nomination period until June 2nd, 12h00 UTC;
(b) Move on with the elections and the agreed upon timeline and open a call
to fill the NCUC EC rep for North America in July;
(c) Move on with the elections and the agreed upon timeline and open a call
to fill the NCUC EC rep for North America in november, with the new EC and
Chair in place.

Being very honest with you, I personally think this situation was very
rushed and I am feeling very frustrated with the lack of respect that was
shown with the announcement that extended our deadline. I do believe that
processes such as the one we have faced on the NCSG list today tends to
undermine our membership trust on the process and we should not allow that.

So far, Louise and Mike have both responded to this thread. Michael agrees
with an extension and, from what I understood, Louise doesnt.

@Benjamin Akinmoyeje <benakin at gmail.com> @Mili Semlani
<milisemlani at gmail.com> @franco giandana <fgiandana at gmail.com> this is a
very relevant issue and we cannot shy away from reaching a decision on
this. Tomorrow at 12h00 utc we will have the meet the candidates call and I
will, most likely, be inquired about that. So it would be nice to have a
solution at some point.

best,
B

Hey all,

I have seen that Michael has already agreed with this on the NCSG thread
but I dont think we should adopt this position, but I will explain it.
Raoul might have been well intended but his announcement has interfered
directly with a decision that only this group should take.

About this, I understand how we do not have a candidate for the North
American rep slot at the EC but I dont think that a deadline that was
announced on a sunday morning without any notification or discussion with
you is acceptable or shows any respect with our membership. This email was
completely out of line and inconsiderate with the level of independence of
NCUC as a constituency and also does not encompass any discussions we might
have had on this list in the recent days.

In light of it all, I would really wish you could agree with me on this.
And that we could open a new process to fill the NA EC slot right after the
elections just so we have a proper time to find a candidate. If we agree
with this suggestion from Raoul we are also indirectly weakening the
decision-making power of NCUC in these sort of deliberations, besides
meddling with a process that was already agreed upon and communicated to
our members.

But I would like to hear back from you.

best,
B
