Hi all,

I just wanted to make this expression of interest following the call for
CROP applications.

1. Name of Event: *Africa Internet Summit 2018 - Senegal*, Dakar

2. Date: *4 - 7 May 2018*

3. How you plan to outreach for NCUC at the event?
I intend to present at the NCUC session, along with other NCUC memebrs who
will be attending, my role will be to:
- present on NCUC, NCSG and ICANN finances, how they work and explain to
attendees how they can and need to play a part in helping ICANN realise its
strategic objectives. I will also be touching on recent development within
ICANN like budget cuts, explaining the Reserve Fund, Operational Fund and
GTLD auction proceeds, how they are currently handled by ICANN and
discussions on ways to comment on annual budgets and how finances kept by
ICANN can be used.
- explain my journey as a newcomer within NCUC so that attendees can also
be encouraged to participate in NCUC activities and PDPs.
- exhibition at a stand to introduce a new tool (NCUC radio - the community
opinion on this tool will be sought) that will help with keeping NCUC
members engaged and informed about latest development and proceedings
within their community, ICANN and the wider ICANN community.
- contribute to dialogues and deliberations that will be taking place at AIS

4. Why you think your application should be considered?

- I have experience in NCUC outreach and would like to add value to the
outreach planned for Africa Internet Summit as I have started making input
and giving direction on the current AIS - NCUC session proposal already
shared with NCUC-DISCUSS.

This opportunity will enable me to learn more about NCUC from other NCUC
members who will be part of the session.

- This will also help me with enabling participation of NCUC members within
the region in NCUC and ICANN activities and mobilise other interested
potential members.

- Together with Liz, we have also started communicating with the ICANN
Regional office about possible sponsored exhibition space, travel support
and negotiation of 1 hour a slot for the NCUC session during the Africa
Internet Summit.

Thanks.

Thato Mfikwe.
