Thank you very much Bruna for setting this deadline.
I would like to echo my colleagues' comments on the strong and promising
applications we received.
It was a hard decision in that we try to balance between selecting
experienced members and sometimes giving a chance to newcomers. I have
continously noticed that we have some experienced members but who still
need support to step up to the plate and take part in policy discussions.
In that frame of mind, I would like to give my vote to Wisdom as I believe
he would be of added value if mentored and supported by some of our Policy
Committee colleagues, Wisdom has been developing a lot of local projects
for his region and contributed in bringing new voices and ideas to
international platformss but is still in need of a mentor-mentee experience
which will be exclusively focussed on a policy issue and drafting a policy
comment.
The decision was and is always tough and I thank you all for sharing your
thoughts and I thank you Bruna for giving us a clear deadline.
The applicants we had have wonderful potentials and I am confident that
they will all go far and whoever is selected, we will be available to
assist them prior, during and after the meetng

> This has been a hard decision to make, however though I see why michael
has chosen Dina, I will cast my vote to a member who is new to the space
but who seems extremely willing to engage based on their application. Dina
has been able to collect a lot of support from her peers and I’m sure her
ICANN journey is only going to grow from here with or without our support -
I wish her all the luck and I’m sure we’ll all be here to support her as
much as we can.
> In terms of Ben, I think there was a conclusion drawn that we cannot
choose him for this travel allocation based on a bylaw stating elligible
NCUC members are ones who: Did not receive NCUC funding to attend the
immediately previous ICANN meeting, unless exceptional circumstances
require their presence at two consecutive meetings.
> Unfortunately though Ben was unable to be with us at ICANN62, he did
receive funding to attend in the shape of a reimbursement to the expenses
he had paid to attend. Thus, we wouldn’t be in line with the bylaws if we
were to choose Ben, which really is sad, but I’d encourage him to work with
us on a crop proposal for next time.
> As for this travel allocation, I’ll personally be supporting someone new
who apparently already got in touch with Stephanie, for a certain project
which would definitely get around many potential policy developers into our
space. I think this could very much be of added value given how much our
current volunteers are overworked.

was a confusion about the final voting tallies - reason why there was an
interpretation that we were allocating the funding to Ben and the CROP to
Thomas. But given that it would be super unfair with the rest of our
members to announce a CROP allocation without an open call previously
announced, we might have to review the decision of the allocation.

the meantime, I would suggest that we send out a "holding" email to Dina
and Ben, explaining the situation.

was a confusion about the final voting tallies and the deliberation being
supposedly concluded when it wasnt. Also, based on the fact that we must
announce a call before a CROP allocation, we might have to review the
decision of the allocation. Due to these mistakes, we will have to retract
the funding allocation announcement and you will be notified soon.
