[NCUC-EC] Abu Dhabi Travel Slots

Dear colleagues
I do agree that at some point we must find something additional to rotation
for allocating travel slots. Not that rotation should no longer be
considered but we might think to add a strategy. I do believe rotation
gives a feeling of fairness and opportunity to volunteer for all ECs.
That said, I had NCUC support to attend an ICANN meeting once and that was
for Copenhagen where, in addition to my EC tasks, attended an intensive
Leadership training organised by ICANN to have NCUC voice heard, I also
introduced our constituency to the fellows with Tatiana s help at icann58
and to Fellows and Nextgen at ICANN 59.
I did not apply for Fellowship for Abu Dhabi because I had in mind the
rotation process that we used to have and I think that we might split the
travel slot since Michael needs some nights covered and that I am now back
to Tunisia so I am in the meeting region which makes my flight a lot
cheaper but I don't know how much a travel slot actually covers.
Also I might attempt to have some nights covered by the Fellowship program
if ever they need a coach. If that s ok, shall I ask Siranush? Otherwise, I
don't think I can self-fund all of the nights in Abu Dhabi as it's really
expensive and am currently without salary since May until September when I
will be back to my government job in Tunis.
On this ICANN meeting, I really hope we can have the whole EC team present
in Abu Dhabi as we really did a great job in Joburg which manifested itself
in the number of people requesting me f2f or by mail to join NCUC.
I aim to help in facilitating an outreach event or session with the MEAC WG
as I worked closely with them since ICANN58 and the Middle East DNS Forum
to advance NCUC topics.
Also my fluency in both Arabic and English will help me reach out to the
local community attending the event. I am also happy to volunteer in
moderating with EC colleagues some NCUC sessions and keep the members
updated via the mailing list, twitter and reports as I did recently.
