Dear Rafik/all,

Please find a template below for your review:

Dear [first name],

Thank you for your interest in applying for the [name] travel support to [name of meeting]. We wanted to let you know that although your application was very competitive, the NCUC ExCom reviewed your application and did not select it for further consideration.

We will, however, encourage you to continue to get involved in the community and reach out to us at any time if you have any questions regarding the work of NCUC.

Your regional representative within the ExCom will reach out to you soon, and where need be, act as an advisor/guide in the workings of the community here at ICANN.

Thank you for applying and hope we will have the chance to consider you for another trip in the future.

Regards,
[Sender Name]

hi everyone,

it seems there is no clear consensus about accepting applications after deadline and we have to cautious about not setting precedent. we wanted to help here and we created some expectations, however, we have to be mindful about the constraints and limits for NCUC.

Tatiana has a clear support and so she should get the ICANN travel slot. for NCUC support slot, I suggest Rachel.
unless a strong objection in the coming hours, I will announce those names to the NCUC list. I will follow-up later with them with regard to NCUC plans for IGF. we will discuss later about outreach in IGF, including the CS pre-event.

I do agree about reaching to applicants and encouraging them. we discussed this before but we didn't really follow-up. we need to draft some responses and do so in order to engage them. We can have some template that we can tweak and customize , @Maryam can you draft a template quickly?

I guess that some expect the chair to do so, but I also see that regional EC members have a role here to follow-up and reach the applicants from their respective regions.
Thanks,

Best,

Rafik

I don't know. I let the chair decide. He can break the tie anyway.

Someone pointed out to me that Marilia’s application came after the deadline. Are we considering it eligible?

I support Milton's selection, even Marilia.

Having reviewed all the applications I would rank the top four thus:

1. Tatiana Tropina

2. Marilia Maciel

3. Rachel Pollack

4. Carlos Vera

Tropina is involved in quite a few sessions and has been extremely active. If Marilia is considered eligible despite late application I give her a slight edge over Rachel because she is NCUC officer and speaks Spanish. Local connection is also why I consider Vera to be a good application. Also we need some gender diversity ;-)
