Perhaps I should have sent a different pointer for her, I was typing fast and pulled the first thing Google gave me, which was from ISOC. Please note that I sent a statement of interest from her to the list on 5 August, which I reproduce below. She long has been in leadership roles in civil society with Hivos, the Arab Internet Governance Forum, and the Diplo Foundation, which I presume figured into the endorsement of her by our AF regional rep. I say this just to have the facts on the table.
Please also keep in mind the linkages here. To participate in the LTP, one must be in Dublin. Hanane’s organization will fund her trip. Remmy would need us to give him NCUC Travel Support, for which he’s also applied. So it’d make no sense to do the one unless we’re committing to the other.
Would be helpful to hear from Joao, Roy and Stefi. Time running out…we need to decide and announce on Friday based one whatever views have been expressed by then, and I don’t much like to operate on the ‘silence is assent’ model, especially on issues where the views expressed to date are divided.
Thanks
Bill

I design and facilitate training programs on Internet Governance for the Middle East audience and ICANN's role in the IG ecosystem is the focus of one of the modules. Engaging stakeholders in a discussion about topics related to the IANA transition or the new gTLD program requires deep knowledge about the policy process and good understanding of ICANN's work. Hence is my interest in this opportunity which will allow me to sharpen my skills on key information about ICANN to be in a better position to speak of its work. To date, IGMENA program have engaged more than 250 civil society representatives from the Middle East in the regional and the global debate and on Internet Governance and the plan is to inject them in various IG processes, including ICANN, according to their affiliation and expertise.
