Hi
Ok let’s see if we can move this stuff along…various people are waiting on our decisions.

1. NomCom: 21 August decision notified
It seems that’s resolved, I’ll tell Joette. Alas for Dublin I’ll have three roles, NCUC, EURALO, and NomCom, and have to be there for 10 nights given their different schedules and have my stay split among different budget lines, but staff can figure it out.
We are done. Congratulations Bill.
2. Leadership Training @ Dublin: Applications due 21 Aug, decision must be notified to ICANN 31 Aug*Two candidates, Remmy and Hanane Boujemi.
[My view: as outlined in her message I forwarded here on 5 Aug, Hanane is the Senior Manager of Hivos’ MENA region programme on Internet Governance. She has been involved with civil society for a long time and I think it would be great to get Hivos, a substantial player in that space, involved in NCUC. Right now the only connection is her personal membership. I’d like to see if we could entice them into an organizational membership. Given that nobody on the EC has expressed interest in the opportunity, unless there are stronger apps in the next few days I would support her doing the program. It would be good to hear other’s views.
I sent Remmy’s bio statement before. This is Hanane http://www.internetsociety.org/who-we-are/people/hanane-boujemi. Views, please.

Do we have only one person to support for LTP @ Dublin? If so, I propose we support Remmy. Recently, he has indicated his strong interest in involving this community, I think we could award him this chance and see what he will do. Let's engage him.As per the purpose of LTP, "[t]he LTP is designed for current and incoming leaders, helping them to better understand the complexity of ICANN and elaborate their facilitation skills.I see stronger leadership in Remmy's SOI than in Hanane's.My personal view.
3. NCUC Travel Support to Dublin: Applications due 28 August.*I’ve had one inquiry, but from a previous recipient, but not a formal app yet.
We still have a week, hopefully some good apps come
After Bill sent a formal call, so far, we received two applications: Remmy Nweke and Arun Mohan Sukumar. The deadline for accepting applications is till 28th, August 23:59 UTC.Let's see if there are more applications to come in, then we can have a discussion here.

4. IGF: I’ve just heard from staff, they want names very soon, which makes sense as the Brazil travel will be complicated.*As described in March, per the past few years we submitted one NCSG workshop and a couple NCUC, and all were highly rated and approved by the MAG and hence funded. Previously I traveled on NCSG slots but this time it will be Rafik, Robin and maybe an NPOC person. So I will travel this time on one of the two NCUC slots. That leaves one to fill. Normally we would use these to get people to the meeting who are involved in the NCUC panels I’ve organized unless they have other funding possibilities. We have Stefania and Jia He as rapporteurs/remote participation coordinator on the two sessions, so they’d be the first choices. I am trying to find out from Jia if she can get funded by the Chinese. Stefania it would be good to know your situation.
Ok, so this is awkward. When we submitted the NCUC and NCSG budget proposals I was assuming that I would go on the NCUC slot within the NCSG allocation of 3 as I did the prior two years, leaving 2 slots for NCUC. But it turns out I’m not, so I have to take one, leaving just one to divide among two colleagues. For the Public Interest session http://intgovforum.org/cms/wks2015/index.php/proposal/view_public/52 Stefania was to be the RM and Jia the Rapporteur, for the WGIG+10 session http://intgovforum.org/cms/wks2015/index.php/proposal/view_public/50 I reversed the roles. (BTW Jia is also supposed to be part of Milton’s IANA workshop.) So I’d wanted us to support both, but it’s not an option.
There are obvious arguments on both sides. Stefi is Team EC, but she’s also received travel support a number of times over the past couple years, including for last year’s IGF. Jia has done less with us so far but wants to get more involved, and has never received support. She also tells me she’s changing jobs and cannot receive support from her new organization. So I guess the question is should this be one of those situations like with the ICANN meetings where if all other things are equal we should operate on the basis of rotating opportunities and bringing in new blood, in this case from China?
Stefi, I’d asked whether your grants or other sources could cover you…? Or what if we could give you $1,000 under the travel policy provision for ICANN-Related Meetings, could you make up the difference via other means? Jia could not…
Either way, staff are on my case to tell them who’s going, so please let’s figure this out.
I propose we give Stefania $1,000 and if she could make up the difference, that 's the best.I would like to support Jia He. As a newbie, she has been working so hard and doing well. I know her and am aware that she keeps around NCUC since she joined and has an enduring interest.Let's offer her this chance.

A related question:
On Aug 17, 2015, at 11:27 AM, William Drake <william.drake at uzh.ch> wrote:Concerning Dublin: if and only if I am elected to the GNSO Council (there is still a week or so to submit nominations, so elections might turn out to be competitive), my understanding is that I would not need travel funding for Dublin. Am I correct, Bill?
I forgot you were doing this. Yes, you will get GNSO funding if elected, which I suspect will happen. So indeed, we may very well have an additional slot in any case. Peter and Joao are already supported, so that would leave Grace, if she’s interested...
Nominations for Council close on the 24th. If on Tuesday you are still unopposed we should notify ICANN that you travel to Dublin on a GNSO slot and release your slot. If that happens, Grace do you want to come or should we do something else?
This leaves to Stefania and Grace. Given Grace will attend WSIS consultations. Let's see what we will do later on when Stefania gets the GNSO funding.

Thanks
Bill
