Hi

Any thoughts on who from NCUC we could offer to send early to BA for some capacity building? I guess it has to be someone with their flight already paid for…

If there's no personal interest or suggestions here I can forward to -discuss…

> Dear All,
>
> We are aware that understanding ICANN as an organisation, including the topics discussed within ICANN and interaction within the other stakeholder groups, can be challenging for incoming leaders as well as also for experienced leaders. ICANN and the community are undertaking a lot of effort in order to ensure that incoming leaders have a good start in their term and that current leaders are provided the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and facilitation skills.
>
> The concept of developing various courses and educational tools under the auspices of the ICANN Academy has been planned for the last two years within ICANN and its Community. The ICANN Academy Working Group is pleased to announce that one module of the ICANN Academy, a pilot Leadership Training Programme, is being organised for the week prior to the upcoming ICANN meeting in Buenos Aires.
>
> This programme is especially designed for current and incoming leaders and consists of 4 interconnected part:
>
> PART 1: Basic knowledge transfer (Online Learning Platform / Mandatory for incoming leaders)
> PART 2: Facilitation Skills Training (13-14 Nov) - This part will focus on the tools and skills of personal effectiveness and facilitation. Included in the topics to be covered are: conflict handling, understanding operating style differences, dealing with disruptive behaviours, building consensus, and managing meetings.
> PART 3: Orientation Training WG (15-16 Nov) - This part will focus on, among other issues, an introduction to each of ACs and SOs, covering their operations and dynamics; Balancing rights and obligations; Explanations of the new TLD programs, i.e. IDN, ccTLDs, and New gTLDs – both traditional and IDN; and an in depth review of topics coming before the Board in the next 12 months as well as on-going Policy Development Processes.
> PART 4: Wrap up /Feedback from the participants and trainers - This part will take place post-Buenos Aires; exact timing to be determined.
>
> For the GNSO a total of 9 slots are being offered.
>
> As NomCom Selectees to the GNSO, Daniel Reed and Thomas Rickert have been invited.
>
> In addition, we would like to ask you to identify the following numbers of incoming or current leaders from the GNSO’s Stakeholder Groups who are interested in participating in the Leadership Training activities:
>
> Registries – 1
> Registrars - 1
> Business Constituency (BC) - 1
> Internet Service Providers (ISP) - 1
> Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) - 1
> Non Commercial Users Constituency (NCUC) - 1
> Not-for-Profit Operational Concerns (NPOC) - 1
>
> Please could you send the names of interested leaders by Monday, 23 September to Sandra Hoferichter and Heidi Ullrich.
>
> As all 4 parts of the programme are interconnected, we recommend all participants to participate in the 4 Parts as the curriculum is created subsequently. Detailed information can be found in the draft curriculum enclosed. The curriculum will be further detailed closer to the event.
>
> Please note: Participants for the Leadership Training Programme will receive travel support including accommodation and stipend for the duration of this programme. Please note that flights will NOT be covered under this programme as incoming leaders are normally covered by the regular ICANN Travel Support. Please ensure that the leaders you select are being covered by ICANN Travel Support for their flights to Buenos Aires for ICANN 48.
>
> We hope this pilot programme will meet the needs of your community. It is an offer to for incoming leaders to get on board easier and should provide current leaders the opportunity to elaborate their facilitation skills and increase their knowledge of ICANN issues. All participants will be encouraged to partake in an open exchange of their views as this will facilitate cross-constituency collaboration later during their terms.
>
> As this is a pilot, the feedback of the initial participants will key to developing future Academy activities.
>
> We are very happy to answer any questions you may have on this exciting Leadership Training Programme and look forward to having your group’s participants confirmed.
>
> Kind regards,
>
> Sandra Hoferichter, Chair of the ICANN Academy WG
> David Kolb, Support for the Facilitation Skills Training
> Heidi Ullrich, Director for At-Large, Staff support for the Orientation Training
