Dear all,
Here is my candidate statement:
Namra Naseer, NY, US, Female, Currently working with Columbia
University, Conflict: None
I am running for a second term on the NCUC Executive Committee (North
America) because I continue to believe in the impact NCSG and NCUC can have
within ICANN. After engaging with different groups across the ICANN
ecosystem, I’ve found that the most meaningful space for advancing
non-commercial interests is within NCUC—and the EC is a powerful place to
contribute to that mission. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to
deepen my involvement, learn from committed members and mentors, and
contribute to work that aligns closely with my values and expertise.
Since joining NCSG/NCUC in 2022 through the Policy Transition Program –
Pilot under Melissa Algood, I’ve continued to be actively engaged in key
initiatives. I served as an alternate on the SubPro Small Team Plus,
gaining deeper insights into the Applicant Support program and the complex
history of the new gTLD process. Most recently, I participated in the new
gTLD program presentation, which reinforced my understanding of how current
policy work intersects with NCUC’s strategic priorities. We are currently
working on revising internal operating procedures and planning an upcoming
event, both of which aim to strengthen engagement, structure, and
transparency within our community.
Professionally, I bring a multidisciplinary background at the intersection
of technology, governance and innovation—ranging from AI startups and
information retrieval to education policy and global internet governance.
Previously, as board member ISOC-NY and ARIN fellow, I’ve worked closely
with diverse stakeholders and represented non-commercial perspectives in
multistakeholder settings. I have six years of experience in research,
strategy, and geopolitics, along with public speaking and facilitation,
which I believe are important to supporting collaborative policy work.
If re-elected, I am fully committed to dedicating time to fulfill my EC
responsibilities—attending meetings, engaging members, contributing to
projects, and maintaining regular communications. I plan to provide
transparent updates through mailing lists and welcome feedback from members
to ensure our work remains inclusive and community-driven.
As ICANN policy grows increasingly complex, NCUC’s role will only become
more vital—especially in the context of the next round of new gTLDs, data
privacy, and the impact of emerging technologies. I look forward to
continuing to serve, advocate for equitable access, and help NCUC expand
its outreach and capacity-building efforts across underrepresented
communities.
Your support means a lot!

Best,
Namra N.
