kindly below my candidate statement for EC NCUC Africa Position
* I am Houda CHIHI, a PhD in Telecom, senior researcher at InnovCOM Lab of SupCOM Tunisia, Techwomen Fellow 2019 hosted at Qualcomm California, Eugen Ionescu postdoc fellow hosted at polytechnica university of Bucharest. To the best of my knowledge, I do not have any conflicts of interest.

1.Why do you want to serve on the EC?
Driven by my passion in ICANN activities and for more engagement and as i learned a lot from my two fellowship opportunities ICANN 78 & ICANN 80 i am interested in serving EC position in my region Africa. In addition i am IETF 118/119/120/121/122 fellow i am planning a collaboration between IETF and NCUC. Furthermore, i want to bring my experience through my participation in different groups of IETF and propose the draft that already did in IETF to investigate it from policy perspective with the help of NUCU members.
In addition through my participation at NCUC CROP funding i am interested in DNS abuse investigation especially that i hold ITU Women in Cybersecurity certificate. In addition, i participated in many NCUC volunteering activities in the way that i found my passion and want to help my region. Hence, EC Africa position is my chance to contribute in my region and in this context i will need the support of each one of the group.
1. 2.Provide a brief biography of recent experience, associations, and affiliations relevant to serving on the Executive Committee. Describe the relevance of your personal and professional experience to serve on the NCUC Executive Committee, and identify any conflicts of interests you might have.
I was recently appointed as a member of IPv6 cybersecurity coordinator of North Africa. I want to share my expertise together with policy challenges with the group. In addition, i am member of ITU AI Readiness Expert Group. I believe in my leadership skills to take this role. Among my goals is to improve engagement through capacity building programs. Participate in mentorship process of newcomers. I participated in different IGF events and panels.

3.The EC performs several functional responsibilities for the Constituency. What level of time commitment can you bring to your EC role on a weekly and overall basis? Describe any concerns or limitations on your ability to attend online meetings of the Executive Committee and ICANN Meetings in person.
Time management is my skill as a researcher. I am committed to dedicate all the necessary time to my work on EC.
1. 4.Communication with the membership is critical. How would you keep members apprised of your EC-related activities?
Following my responsibilities as a Regional Representative i will be in charge in informing in proactive way about any calls of volunteering activities. I am interested in mentoring newcomers in my region and involve them in some volunteering activities. As an ambassador of my region Africa among my duties in this role is to recruit new members and highlight more visibility in the concern of NCUC activities.
I will advocate for more NCUC members engagement in ICANN related policy discussion on the African continent, I will update NCUC members of IG related activities in Africa. I will host routine online meetings to engage regional members and ensure NCUC participation in regional activities. I will engage with ICANN regional engagement team.
1. 5.How do you foresee NCUC’s function, scale, or role changing in the future? What areas of ICANN policy, if any, need more attention and why? Incumbent candidates should answer in a manner that is both backward and forward-looking, i.e. taking note of their contributions and work in the previous year.
Following my experience as a Fellow newcomer in NCUC i need mentorship to know more about NCUC activities. I am planning to invite fellows of my region becoming members of NCUC to share their experience in ICANN and i will explain NCUC policy process.
I believe the new g TLD program implementation require intense participation by NCUC to ensure that more non commercials benefits from the next round.
