[NCUC-DISCUSS] [NCUC-EC] NCUC EC 1st meeting--minutes are online

Thing is that it was NOT discussed. The minutes refer strictly to the in-person meeting in Washington.

We are committed to transparency, and that's why the minutes are circulated and published online.

However, there are decisions that are taken remotely, via email, because, for example, there is urgency to communicate it to the applicants; in this specific case, we decided to wait for all problems to be solved and Benjamin to be really here (visa applications might work against our decisions...)

In any case, thanks for your comments. We will take them into account to improve the process-- as you know this is the first time such travel grant is awarded, so we have food for thought in preparation for Buenos Aires.

Thank you Stefania for clarification, and congratulation Benjamin. It is true the the call for travel support was circulated by Bill via email list-serve and was then discussed agreed on and announced to the applicants again via email but for clarity and feature reference it was also good to be mentioned and minuted in EC meetings because you can see there are some people like Arsene Tungali who claims to have not been aware of any travel award.

Pass my regards to William Grace and everyone else at meeting.

Hi

It didn’t make sense to announce it until we knew for sure whether it would work out, but I’m happy to report that Benjamin Akinmoyeje is indeed here from Nigeria as the first recipient of an NCUC Travel Award and will be blogging about his experience in the days ahead.

Best

Bill

Dear James, correct. In fact we did not discuss the travel support funds, as the decision had been taken earlier by means of an email discussion (in due time to make arrangements for Singapore).
Hope this clarifies things.
Stefania

Good work for the NCUC EC first sitting. I have gone through the minutes but though applied for travel support for the ICANN 52 meeting in Singapore 8-12 February 2015 I didn't see travel support and/or applicants having been discussed as an agenda item.

Wish all Singapore meeting participants nice stay in Singapore and journey mercy back home I am also there via remote participation.

Dear NCUC members

the newly elected NCUC Executive Committee met for the first time in Washington, DC on January 12, 2015, on occasion of the NonContracted House Parties Intersessional. The minutes from that meeting are now online: http://www.ncuc.org/?p=1405
