The FTAA is the proposed Free Trade Area for the Americas, a fast tracked 
treaty that is a vast expansion of NAFTA.   It is not a done deal, and there 
are plenty of opportunties to change or stop the treaty, but it is a very 
big deal and Internet related civil society have not paid much attention to 
it.  The copyright and patent provisions are quite extensive also.   Basic 
info on the treaty, including reports from the e-commerce committee, contact
