Jamie,
You are the one who asked about the basis of "authority" that went into my
comments. I answered you. At no time did my statements claim to be "the
be-all and end-all". I do, however, claim to be knowledgeable about
matters of Internet-scale, open membership, collaborative process. There
is a considerable difference between that activity and generic "experience
running organizations".
So, it would help if you put some effort into understanding my response and
background, rather than seeking to trivialize, marginalize and distort
it. Very few people in these discussions have been doing Internet-scale
online, collaborative specifications for 30 years. Very few people have
authored substantial numbers of such specifications. (The RFC authorship
count appears to be 39, covering a rather large range of topics,; I also
chaired a number of IETF working groups, and served as an Area Directory
for four years.) As to my ICANN experience, serving as editor the IAHC
proposal represented a specific effort to forge a very difficult
consensus. For all of the emotional criticism of the IAHC work, folks will
be amused to see how many of its details did, in fact, get implemented,
albeit under different labels.
So, Jaime, please review <http://www.brandenburg.com> before you again
pretend to be ignorant of -- and dismissive of -- the differences in our
experience.
Better still: it would be nice if you chose to focus on the content of the
comments rather than constantly resorting to ad hominem lines of attack.
Best of all:
Again, please note that YOU are the one proposing to make a change
to ICANN's documents.
Therefore the burden of justifying the need, and the efficacy of
your proposal, falls on you.
You appear intent on avoiding that responsibility.
It is not reasonable or appropriate for someone to say that a change is
needed, fail to offer justification or specificity, and then claim that the
burden of effort is with the people objecting to the change.
