ICANN has only been in existence for a small fraction of the time that
Dave has been working via email; the fact that you are ignorant of his 
work in other venues is more telling than you realize.

Compared to what?  The usual "ICANN list?

But we were discussing experience in producing complex and meaningful
results via online email collaborations, not running organizations in
general, weren't we? In fact, it is abundantly clear that general
experience in "running organizations" is of very little value when it
comes to working in online groups.
