    * ICANN to solicit proposals for a limited number of new sponsored
domains--During meetings in Amsterdam, the Internet Corporation for Assigned
Names and Numbers' Board of Directors adopted a resolution calling on the
organization's President, M. Stuart Lynn, "to develop a draft Request for
Proposals ... for the purpose of soliciting proposals for a limited number
of new sponsored gTLDs [generic Top-Level Domains]." such as .health. The
decision comes amidst of long-standing complaints that ICANN has moved too
slowly in approving new TLDs.

    * ICANN Board adopts revised transition plans and bylaws--The Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' Board of Directors has adopted
changes to Bylaws that were originally approved in October 2002; these
changes would, among other things, will make it easier for the organization
to reject requests for reconsideration. The Board also adopted revised plans
for the organization to transition into a new governing structure; these
plans essentially force the 9 At-Large Directors (5 of which were publicly
elected) to notify ICANN by December 23 2002 whether they wish to "serve as
members of the Transition Board."
