[ncdnhc-discuss] Re: Why is "Marketing ccTLDs as generics" onNC Agenda?

OK, sorry again, there is a great deal of confusion about
what issue you are addressing.

So, Jon Weinberg is right, you want to criticize New.net?
Is that what you are proposing to do? I thought you were
criticizing new TLDs such as .KIDS (I remember in Marina
del Rey last year you had a resolution against .KIDs,
which was voted down).

In discussion of these new TLDs, you cannot ignore the
simple fact that it is ICANN's delays and high costs
that is the root cause of these efforts.
All of these "alternative" TLDs have applied to ICANN
for authority, all of them are perfectly capable of
running a registry (indeed, New.net seems more competent
than ICANN and Afilias), and yet all of them have been
blocked by ICANN.

Of course they are trying to go around ICANN.

So my question to you, Vany, is: why are you questioning
these companies tryring to start new TLDs? Why don't
you question why ICANN blocks the market for so long?

Milton:

1. Two months ago I brought into the attention of the NC this issue (TLDs
not created by ICANN as .TRAVEL .KIDS, .GAMES...)
2. Never I had received an answer about it in the NC list, however I have
received personal answers from members of different constituencies, but
because they are personal, then I don't publish them.
3. This subject never was discussed neither put into a votation neither
have relationship with the resolution that NCDNHC passed f2f in
Montevideo.

So please, Milton, stop confusing people!

The idea, is that if the NC finds that is a subject important for them,
then make the proper consultation to their constituencies to make a
position statement, if not...then, I made my try. And let me remember you
that when I brought into the attention of NC this issue, I made it as a
personal concern and exposed the possible sectors affected according to my
view

Best Regards
Vany
