[ncdnhc-discuss] Pre-registration of .museum names has begun

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has announced that
the completion of a deal to bring a .museum online by November 2001. This
new Internet suffix is one of 7 Top-Level Domains (including .biz and .info)
that ICANN approved nearly a year ago. Although ICANN announced the signing
of the .museum contracts on Oct. 18, 2001, some 500 museums "have already
requested their '.museum' domain names as part of an early registration
process that will last through the end of October." Additional TLDs (beyond
the 7 that ICANN has agreed to create) may not be approved until 2003.
