ICANN has released more details about its upcoming conference in Los Angeles
(scheduled for November 12-15, 2001). For one thing, attendees are now
required to register in advance; another change is that the conference will
not follow the usual format, but will contain nearly three full days of
meetings regarding the "Security and Stability of the Internet Naming and
Address Allocation Systems." The tentative schedule does include time for
debate regarding the future of ICANN public elections, but it is unclear
whether there will be any discussion of ICANN's controversial ban on the
registration of geographic and geopolitical names in the .info domain.
