That is correct. Here's some pertinent language from ICANN's Action Plan:
"Geographic and Geopolitical Names in .info
President's Proposed Action Plan
...
"On 10 September, ... the Board adopted resolution 01.93, instructing the
General Counsel to 'take appropriate action to preserve the Board's ability
to take action with respect to the registration in .info of names of
countries and distinct economies contained in the ISO 3166-1 list.'"
