Hi Claudio. Great to hear from you, and a relief! We were concerned, but thankful that it was simply overwork that kept you preoccupied, a malady we can all understand! 

Your suggestion of accepting and then working to identify a replacement is a noble one. My personal opinion, though, is that as much as I would appreciate whatever you can offer, it would be imprudent to pursue a role that you won’t be able to devote the requisite time to. I feel it would be most helpful if you can work to identify and advocate for a suitable candidate who can fill a vacant position, and not feel they are replacing you.

I will certainly miss your voice in the EC. I found your contributions to the discussions were extremely sensible and thoughtful. But I expect you will still contribute greatly to the non commercial cause, and we will see you again during discussions and meetings.

Hello everyone,

I am awfully sorry for causing all this delay and hassle. I was hoping to be able to fulfill basic tasks for the leadership in the region until we could find someone else from the community with the necessary amount of time to take it for another term.

Unfortunately, the way the CROP funding was organized in Cancun did not allow that at all to happen, and I’m also overwhelmed with workload from the university and other institutions and spaces where I already had roles.

I cannot go on with the assignments for another full term. At this point, what I could try is to accept the nomination and send you a statement, but with a perspective of finding a community member from the region (what I did try for the short time I was in Cancun) that can join the constituency as soon as possible and dedicate the adequate amount of time to the task.

I’m on my way to CPDP in Brussels on longer flight tonight, and I would appreciate your help in finding the best solution at this point.

Once again, sorry for the trouble and I hope to be able to find a way around this.

There is a reason to have an election timeline, and if we don’t respect it then we are showing no confidence in the very procedures we have laid down for ourselves. Not only does that affect the community’s trust in the EC but also the governing systems and processes.

On the election timeline we have a candidates call scheduled for Monday, 22 May. 

What time would each group like to hold their candidates call? Currently NCSG and NCUC do not have more than one nominee for each position. NPOC does have more than one nominee for vice chair, Policy Committee chair, membership chair and communications committee chair.

The NCSG Policy call is on Monday, 22 May at 11:30 UTC, but any time after that would work for my schedule.

Hello all!

I am bringing all of the groups together to discuss the election timeline. Traditionally the groups all hold their elections together. Below is the timeline that has been sent to all ECs. We do have some time built in before NCSG names have to be turned in for ICANN78. I am happy to adjust this timeline by a week to two. In fact, I think at this point it may be a good idea to postpone at least 1 week. Selfishly, I would like to keep all of the elections at the same time, as this makes keeping track of elections a bit easier. However, I am happy to adjust as each EC sees fit.
