Arriving earlier would allow you participate in the school; I don't know if you've spoken with Anriette about lecturing? And per the many prior messages, you could also help by speaking on the NCUC panel Friday and attending the NCUC reception. The Doodle, yet again, is at http://www.doodle.com/ccc2uvz7hwem37xi

You misunderstand. I don't know why. There have been many messages explaining this. It's not students like college kids, it's an IG capacity building school like the one we met at years ago. There will be government people, civil society activists, etc.

If I must, again: there were proposals early in the year to do a full day policy conference in Durban. Robin had been in communication with staff saying we want rooms etc. I double checked with Xavier on the eve of submitting Fast Track requests that I didn't need to do one for Durban. He said yes you do, the room allocating people have nothing to do with budgeting, and nothing has been promised to NCUC. So under the circumstances, it was not feasible to submit a detailed budget request for a full blown one day policy conference in Durban, inter alia because I was already swamped submitting multiple other budget requests with no help and did not have the means to discover the costs of each conference component for a proper submission in the time available. So I told you that we're not doing a big policy conference in Durban. That remains true. But I also said if we could do something smaller that didn't involve budget requests to ICANN I'd be willing to pursue it. So I proposed a workshop in the main program, a decision from ICANN about which is pending. And then APC got the funding to do the School, and invited us to participate and do an outreach session about what is NCUC etc, and then we thought a reception to cap it would be a nice touch. I then sent messages to the listerservs you are on saying we are thinking about doing this, and received only encouragement. I also had multiple private messages from you, again nothing but encouragement. So why for the past two days you're appearing on this publicly archived list to complain about being shocked shocked to discover that we are doing something you've know about and expressed support for is pretty far beyond me.

Like what we're doing in Durban, but with university students. Which you just said above you prefer not to to do this with.

Per my other message, if Brenden and Robin don't have one, sure, make one and I'll ask ICANN to pay for it under the print support.

THEY WILL HAVE SAT THROUGH A TWO HOUR PRESENTATION FROM NCUC ABOUT NCUC BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE NCUC-SPONSORED RECEPTION. THEY WILL KNOW WHO IS PAYING FOR IT.

No relationship whatsoever to this. Different people managing under different circumstances.

Thanks for the positive vibrations, helpful.
