Dear all,
The NCUC is calling on interested members of the ICANN Non-Commercial Users Constituency (NCUC) to form a small team that will be focused on improving our media and communication efforts. This call is in response to an ongoing challenge that has hindered our ability to effectively engage and advocate for the non-commercial stakeholders both within ICANN and globally.
The small team will be tasked with developing and implementing a strategic media and communication plan to address the following key areas:

  1. Limited Outreach and Public Awareness: Increase visibility and public awareness of NCUC’s role in ICANN and internet governance, particularly in underrepresented regions.
  2. Inadequate Communication Channels: Enhance internal communication tools and channels to keep members informed and engaged in policy discussions.
  3. Resource Constraints: Identify solutions to strengthen our media engagement efforts, including resources for communication and content production, which should take into consideration the voluntary nature of the work developed.
  4. Internal Communication Barriers: Address challenges with accessing timely updates on policy discussions and decisions to improve member participation.
  5. Insufficient Media Strategy: Develop a comprehensive strategy to amplify NCUC’s positions on issues like privacy, human rights, accessibility, IP overreach, data protection, etc.
  6. Underrepresentation in ICANN’s Media Coverage: Increase NCUC's presence in media coverage to ensure our perspectives are represented and heard.
Key Responsibilities of the Small Team:

  * Conduct a thorough situation analysis of current media and communication efforts.
  * Establish clear objectives for the group’s work and identify target audiences, including newcomers.
  * Recommend effective media and communication products and mechanisms.
  * Suggest partnerships with media outlets and civil society organizations to amplify NCUC's messages.
  * Boost our digital presence by regularly creating (or reusing) content and updating NCUC’s website and social media channels with relevant content.
We call on passionate and dedicated members from each of the 5 regions to apply for a spot in the small team focused on developing NCUC's strategic media and communication plan. Your involvement is essential to the success of this working group and will play a key role in strengthening NCUC’s advocacy efforts for the non-commercial community across the world.
If you are interested in contributing to this important work, please submit your interest and a brief background to Andrea Glandon through the following email: andrea.glandon at icann.org<mailto:andrea.glandon at icann.org> by Tuesday, 11 February 2025. Your participation and commitment will help ensure that NCUC continues to represent the non-commercial community within ICANN and the world.
