[NCUC-DISCUSS] Fwd: Community Leadership Calls with Göran Marby

Hi Farzi,

The problem happens when someone else registers what you feel is your
community's name, your region's name, or you people's name. From
everything I've seen, it's far easier to apply upfront than to fight for
years after someone else does (this fight is also tremendously expensive).

But that's not my decision to make - it's the decision of the
communities. If they don't have the information, they don't have any
options.  At the end of the day, when all the i's are dotted and the t's
are crossed, the future rounds of new gTLDs are supposed to provide
financial and application assistance to those communities who need and
want it.

I don't think it's a big lift for us to encourage ICANN to share
information about new gTLDs with communities around the world, and
support members who want to help get the word out to their communities.

Hope all is well,

Kathy
