    <p>The problem happens when someone else registers what you feel is
      your community's name, your region's name, or you people's name. 
      From everything I've seen, it's far easier to apply upfront than
      to fight for years after someone else does (this fight is also
      tremendously expensive). <br>
    </p>
    <p>But that's not my decision to make - it's the decision of the
      communities. If they don't have the information, they don't have
      any options.  At the end of the day, when all the i's are dotted
      and the t's are crossed, the future rounds of new gTLDs are
      supposed to provide financial and application assistance to those
      communities who need and want it.  <br>
    </p>
    I don't think it's a big lift for us to encourage ICANN to share
    information about new gTLDs with communities around the world, and
    support members who want to help get the word out to their
    communities.<br>

      <div dir="auto">unfortunately the way these policies are developed
        and designed  will not make the new gtlds more relevant and will
        not incentivize marginalized communities to participate. On top
        of that, did we even consider marginalized communities when
        coming up with all sorts of heavy handed policy criteria for
        application? I haven’t heard. ICANN campaign will not benefit
        anybody really but ICANN itself to receive more applications. </div>

                ICANN needs to improve its communications.  I had raised
                the issue of summary briefs to explain the current

                    share the opening of the (upcoming) new gTLD
                    application rounds?  What marketing efforts is it
                    planning to share the news with regions and
                    indigenous peoples that did not actively participate
                    in the "first round" (2012)?</p>
                  <p>To reach these groups and regions who did not
                    participate before, how much before the application
                    deadline will ICANN roll-out its marketing
                    campaign?  How will it target its outreach to these
                    communities?  In how many languages will the new
                    gTLD materials be shared?  Can we petition for
                    materials to be translated into additional languages
                    if members of (NCSG) want to reach out to
                    communities we know, and whose members may
                    read/speak languages other than the UN 6? <br>
