*NCSG/NCUC/NPOC Capacity Building Webinar Announcement - Moving the
Conversation: Influence and Negotiation *

The next offering of the NCSG/NCUC/NPOC capacity building efforts will take
place on *Thursday, October 4th at 19 UTC and Friday, October 5th at 13
UTC. * The two offerings are duplicates of the same webinar to accommodate
varied time zones. See registration information below to join the session.

The webinar is part of the FY18 Additional Budget Request submitted by the
NCSG on behalf of the NCSG, NCUC and NPOC

(Request number FY18-25) which focused on capacity building on consensus
building and negotiation skills. During ICANN62 in Panama, a face-to-face
session was offered to NCSG/NCUC/NPOC participants as part of this
Additional Budget Request, and the subsequent webinars are another
component of the program. *All materials are being used to create a
comprehensive ICANN Learn course on consensus building, so interactive
participation from NCSG, NCUC and NPOC members is highly encouraged.*
*Participants
who attended the face-to-face session in Panama should also aim to attend,
since the webinars were designed based on the outcomes of the face-to-face
session and are a continuation of the work commenced in Panama. All
NCSG/NCUC/NPOC Members are welcome to join even if they didn’t attend the
face-to-face session.*

*Webinar Overview: Influence and Negotiation - Thursday, October 4th at 19
UTC and Friday, October 5th at 13 UTC (duplicate sessions for time zone
purposes)*

A large focus of the NCSG, NPOC, and NCUC’s work is aimed at influencing
and negotiating on behalf of civil society within ICANN. In this ongoing
Capacity Building Program ICANN is offering a second set of webinars
(duplicate sessions for time zone purposes) focused on influencing others
when there is no apparent authority.

We will discuss the psychology, foundations, and elements of influence,
part of which is negotiation. You will learn about your preferred way of
influencing and negotiating with others and how that impacts your ability
to be influenced. We will talk about currencies and how to frame
concessions. We will also revisit how values drive positions and how
helping others behave their values is a powerful way to influence with
integrity.

The webinar will use interactive tools so be ready to contribute! The
success of webinars lies in the participation of the attendees. We are
looking forward to working with you!
