Yes anyone applying for this needs to be very clear on the visa requirements (Not I am not applying for it so no conflict here) you need to have a conference visa which is a very specific visa type that has taken most people weeks if not months in many cases to organise.

Its fantastic that we have these slots available and its very important that we award them to people who are going to be able to utilise them and an important part of this is the visa situation.

Hi Kawesha,

It might be worth taking a look at this guide to obtaining a visa for India which ICANN staff have produced: https://meetings.icann.org/en/hyderabad57/visa-application-guide-india. Note that it says to apply for the conference visa, and not a business or tourist e-visa. I submitted my application for a conference visa quite a few weeks ago, and the High Commission of India in London is still in possession of my passport. It would seem that not all Indian missions operate at the same speed. Good luck!

Ayden

You need to check again for your information sources cause that is not the information that I have. The letter from Joseph is not sufficient. You will need to local invite. And with that and because they have issued a couple of visas for those attending ICANN meetings, it will take three days to get.

I already have the invitation letter signed by Joseph De Jesus. In Kenya there is no much restriction for people traveling to India there is even the option of visa on arrival at Airport. .

Hi,

yes it seems that conference visa is required, in particular for ICANN support travel. I am checking with ICANN staff and that is their understanding, waiting for ICANN travel constituency confirmation.

Best Regards,

Please remember that a conference visa is required which definitely cannot be done in 48hrs.
