[NCUC-DISCUSS] Community budget request 2017

Thanks Farzi/Rafik for bringing up the idea of the policy conference, and Matt for drawing attention to it again. I have somehow missed it when it first circulated through the list.

I participated in two such policy conferences, and found them very informative and empowering for the community in general: great opportunities for exploring issues in a format other than the mailing-list, for networking with the other constituencies and SO/AC within ICANN and familiarise them with our values and ideas (thinking here about the policy conference in Singapore 2014 that Bill organized), and for awareness-raising and recruiting as well (I myself got involved with NCUC after speaking at one such conference).

I am a bit concerned about the idea of having a 2-day event: while certainly powerful to develop our own agenda further, it would probably mean making ICANN meetings even longer... so, rather a 1-day event, packed and rich, but that people can actually attend. Count on me for organising :-)

My two cents, Stefania
