Well, there are real constraints to what I or a Report Card can say, unfortunately. A lot of the intense desire to maintain NDA-based silence on candidates etc. spills over to process details, unnecessarily in my view. So what you’re seeing here doesn’t quite capture the intensity of the interactions and the areas of disagreement, which sometimes are significant. But we’re deep in the fray...

Not sure what you mean about the SubComs, those are all NomCom members. As to the leadership positions, as it says:
Chair (chosen by the Board): Stéphane Van Gelder
Associate Chair (chosen by Chair): Wolfgang Kleinwächter
Chair Elect (chosen by the Board to prepare for the Chairmanship of the 2017 NomCom): Hans Petter Holen
None of those three vote, they provide guidance.

If not, what is it and, if so, do you have any idea how successful they have been in mitigating obstacles to travel for NomCom members? Based upon what you do know, would you suggest we try something similar, a standing committee on travel, on Council or in the NCUC?
Per info shared in response to a previous convoluted and misdirected exchange, it deals only with issues faced by NomCom members. I’ve not heard that anyone’s had any problems, but bear in mind where we’ve met this year.
Whether some larger configuration is needed to deal with community travel issues, I can see the arguments for this, but also can predict the staff counter-arguments. And it is true that the new travel agency is just getting started….but if enough folks from across the community feel the need, this might be something to pitch in the Public Forum in Helsinki etc.
Cheers
