Hi

As discussed here previously, since the London meeting in 2014 we’ve been doing NCUC civil society outreach events at some of the ICANN meetings. The ones in Buenos Aires and Washington DC were particularly successful; the records are on ncuc.org if interested. We will do another one in Dublin, Saturday 17 October, probably 16:30-18:30 followed by a reception for all CS people in ICANN. We recognize this is not great timing for those who have to stay in the Council meeting, but alas it is literally the only time slot that makes any sense.

In past meetings we’ve had @ eight heavily involved members providing brief overviews of different topics we work on, followed by open discussion. Given what will be happening in Dublin (alas, I think the IGC also will be meeting Saturday), my suggestion this time would be to narrow the focus to the stewardship transition, accountability, and privacy, and try to have a more ‘deep dive’ dialogue on each.

To manage agenda setting and the processes of compiling names and addresses and sending out and tracking invitations, for the BA meeting we formed a temporary Program Team and set up a mail list http://www.ncuc.org/participate/working-teams. We could do that again, although since I still have the details on people invited for London we might already be 70% of the way there and not need a big process. It’s possible a few folks could handle this, and a couple local members have previously expressed interest. I guess let’s see how much interest there is in helping and then decide. Whichever way we go, it would better to start sooner than later, as experience has demonstrated that this can get a bit crunched at the back end. Moreover, I will be really swamped in the two weeks prior with project deadlines and won’t be able to spend time then managing invitations, so it’d be really great if someone was willing to step forward to serve as the coordinator of the effort.

So this is an open call, please let me know if you’re interested in helping in some manner.

Best

Bill
