Not in the present situation, no, nobody'd expect you to do that,
but stranger things have happened - small volunteer-driven
organizations are not immune to hostile takeover attempts.
And the discussion has also been about how the bylaws should be
adjusted to avoid such ambiguities in the future, and in that
context I think Avri's suggestions are good.

I don't see how simply having the EC decide on the issue when the
bylaws are unclear amounts to "convening a constitutional convention"
or indeed why it should slow things down much at all.
