The European Union Council of Telecommunications Ministers has approved a
proposal to create a ".eu" top-level domain, to be used by European
citizens, organizations and businesses. The European Commission is expected
to publish a "call for expressions of interest to operate the .eu Registry"
and to award the selected party "a renewable contract."
