Eung Hwi, Raul, Jon--your points are very well taken--thanks for the
feedback. In the meantime, there have been still more developments:
-Several ranking U.S. Congressmen have written a letter to U.S. Commerce
Secretary Donald Evans savaging the Lynn proposal. They charged that
proposals such as the Lynn plan "will make ICANN even less democratic, open,
and accountable than it is today," and that ICANN management should not be
allowed "to retreat on any future prospects for open, democratic, private
sector-led management of certain limited technical Internet functions."
-The U.S. Congress is indeed planning to hold oversight hearings on ICANN.
This decision is in part fueled by concern over the Lynn proposal.
