I'm not "dissing" the ISOC, I am just pointing out that
ISOC has evolved into an organization, that, while
legally non-profit, functions more like a trade association
of Internet-interested businesses and developers
than noncommercial users, networkers, etc.

The American Petroleum Institute is also a 501c3.

Sorry.  We're not at all a "quasi-commercial trade association."  ISOC is a 
501c3 non profit international organization and has a long record of 
anything but a commercial trade organization.  But then, I suspect you 
really do know that.
