The 2001 Board of Trustees of ISOC, elected by individual membership, has
decided to change election procedures at the end of last year.
It is a pity for them that they did not foresee the call for membership that
arrived in my mailbox by subscribing to this list. ISOC was a quite
fledgling organisation with a relatively low membership count of a less than
ten thousand and could probably use this membership storm and money quite
well.

FYI. The press release of ISOC of last Thursday on the vote results.

Regards,

Hendrik

2002 Internet Society (ISOC) Elections

30 May 2002 Announcement: Elections Results Available

In accordance with the new Governance structure adopted by the Internet
Society last December, and with our Trustee Selection Procedures, three
parallel processes were held during the period from March 5, 2002 through
May 28, 2002. These were:

the election of four Trustees by ISOC Organization Members (2 to serve for
three years, and 2 to serve for two years)
the election of one Trustee by ISOC Chapters (3-year term)
the selection of two Trustees by the ISOC Standards Organizations (1 to
serve for three years, and 1 to serve for two years)
The Standards Organization Trustees were selected in accordance with
procedures established by these organizations and ratified by the ISOC Board
of Trustees.

The Standards Trustees are:

Fred Baker - 3-year term
Erik Huizer - 2-year term

In the Organization Member election, there were 12 candidates on the slate,
with four Trustees to be elected. Of the 118 eligible Organization Members,
69 cast ballots. In the Chapter Election, there were 2 candidates on the
slate, with one Trustee to be elected (a third candidate withdrew during the
voting process). Of the 50 active Chapters, 25 cast ballots.

After a complete count, the elected candidates are as follows:

Organization Member Election

Toshio Miki - 3-year term
Glenn Ricart - 3-year term
Latif Ladid - 2-year term
Osten Franberg - 2-year term

Chapter Election

Veni Markovski - 3-year term

Nine previously-elected Trustees continue to serve on the Board. They are
(along with the ending year of their current term):

Brian E. Carpenter (2003)
Rosa M. Delgado (2003)
Barbara Fraser (2003)
Christine Maxwell (2003)
Wawa Ngenge (2003)

Alan Greenberg (2004)
Don Heath (2004)
Kees Neggers (2004)
George Sadowsky (2004)

Formal ratification of the election results is dependent on the outcome of
the challenge period ending Monday, June 17, 2002.

Alan Greenberg
Chair, Elections Committee

As all members should be aware of by now, ISOC entered the New Year with an
updated and changed system of governance and membership. The Board from now
on will be made up of representatives from each of the different ISOC
constituencies: industry (through the Organizational Members), the
engineering community (the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and the
Internet Engineering Task Force, (IETF), and the general membership (through
Chapter representation). Thus ISOC will be able to be much more responsive
to the concerns of all of its stakeholders.

The election process implementing this change was launched on 6 March, 2002
with the first call put out from the ISOC Nominations Committee for
Nominations and Petitions of Chapter and Organization candidates. For
