[ncdnhc-discuss] No new LA agenda

Milton, Dave, all,

anyone who has ever had to draw a real contingency plan for computers or
networks has seen a lot more than quick technical fixes go into the
solution. Broadly located, loosely coupled systems with large redundancies
introduce some measure of protection but introduce new, significant
management quandaries.

NC member organizations stand to gain from properly done security and
stability, and to spend a lot of time, money, and effort in the event of
failures. OTOH, though frequently drowned in the chorus, there are NCC
members (persons and organizations) who understand this issue well, have
no commercial or profit motive to make recommendations one way or another,
and are a valauble asset this constituency should be offering to the
community at large.

All of which needn't derail anything else. But some triage may be
necessary to prune the issues tree and put them in perspective and in a
workable timeline.

Yes, this is a call for prudent thought, for "calm, rational" analysis,
and against some breast thumping (also to be put in perspective; one can
still thump one's breast, etc., but maybe to less effect than otherwise).

I canpt but note also that sticking to tradition also brings scarce
results this time, even for the oh-so-pressing agendas. Let's have them
spelled out, with the backing of "calm, rational" thought and due
diligence. Some consensus building would help.

Yours,

Alejandro Pisanty
