[ncdnhc-discuss] .info registrations soar, despite problems

Afilias, a consortium that is attempting to introduce a .info Top-Level
Domain, stated that over 500 000 names had been registered with the new
Internet suffix. This announcement comes despite reports of widespread fraud
by purported trademark holders and a freeze on the registration of
geographic names within .info. Indeed, one Afilias director has already
resigned over perceived shortcomings in .info registration procedures, and
the consortium has promised "to directly challenge certain unqualified
sunrise registrations" in December 2001.
