In its final report, a committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned
Names and Numbers has reportedly made several controversial recommendations,
including a reduction in the number of publicly elected At-Large Board
members and curbs on the voting rights of ordinary Internet users (such as
requiring domain name ownership and payment of membership fees). Meanwhile,
ICANN officials are signalling that a final decision on these plans might
not be made until March 2002.
