[NCUC-EC] [Ext] RE: ICANN76 Session Zoom Setup

Thanks again, Andrea.

It seems I misunderstood where it would be deployed. Not so much for our meetings but for the membership sessions during the hybrid ICANN meetings.

In that case I can see that it can have some value, provided there are support staff to monitor the questions coming through this channel. I can see how this might be useful over people putting questions into the chat, which can get busy.

I still don’t have a strong opinion one way or another.

Ken

Hello all,

I have received more information on this feature:

MORE INFO ON Q&A FEATURE IN REGULAR ZOOM ROOM: Content will not be recorded (same as in webinar rooms), only hosts and co-hosts will be able to answer questions (so names will need to be provided ahead of time for staff to promote them upon arrival), the default will be questions will only be visible to all once they have been answered, if you wish to see them as they are asked, this needs to be requested at the start of the session.

This would be for the NCUC Membership session during ICANN76.

Thanks!

Kind Regards,

Andrea

Hi Andrea. Thanks for sharing the availability of this new feature. Personally, I do not see how it can add anything to the EC sessions. We’re a small group and between the audio and the chat it’s difficult enough to keep track of the discussion.

That said, I do not see any harm in enabling the feature. We are not obliged to use it and, well, who know? We may yet determine it has some value in the future!

I wait for others to comment.

Ken

Hello!

Zoom has had a significant improvement to the meeting format.

The Zoom Q&A feature, previously only available in Zoom Webinars, is now available in Zoom Meetings.

You can read more about this feature here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/11400580088973-Enabling-Q-A-for-Meetings- [support.zoom.us] <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/11400580088973-Enabling-Q-A-for-Meetings-__;!!PtGJab4!87fg4getavoMVXrh5GrseZqYVv4ZZE7I12lXCse1_ab0hJJmj0tufgkq3C0z1PIaVUSf-A9qr9IViEfcXaAn9A$>

For all ICANN76 sessions, regardless of the Zoom format selected, the Q&A feature will be enabled by default. The Q&A pod cannot be disabled once a session has started.

Please let me know if you would like the Q&A feature turned on for your sessions so that I can request the appropriate setup.

Thanks!
