[NCUC-EC] Review: NCSG PC - NCUC Rep Applications

Dear EC,

This is most certainly a challenging decision to take.
I pondered considerably over the possibility of casting my vote to Dina or Claudio. Both have actively engaged in policy making and drafting comments and are excellent candidates. However, after careful consideration, my vote goes to Claudio.

As I said, Dina is a highly qualified candidate for this position. She has been extremely valuable helping us as a constituency in building skills in policy writing and reaching out to the wider community in explaining how these processes work and how they can take the first step towards active participation. Thus dedicating time and attention to making our members more aware of the importance of our policy work. While I do think these elements (along with her consistent participation in drafting public comments) are necessary, I see that Claudio might be better positioned in this moment to take on the responsibility.

I do not wish to repeat what has already been said but, should the EC support this candidacy, I believe Claudio would do a great job in taking forward some of our non-commercial views in drafting policy. Not only has he been actively participating online, but has also demonstrated the capacity of receiving criticism, good communication and writing skills as well as eagerness to engage more actively in policy - all of which are fundamental elements for taking on and persisting in this position. This is further coupled to his participation in our in-reach capacity building efforts such as the NCUC policy writing course and the NCSG negotiation skills course.

All the best,

I’ve seen him on several public comment teams, the NCUC policy course, International IG related conferences doing outreach for NCUC and highlighting voices from ICANN, multiple F2F sessions of GNSO and NCSG/NCUC here at ICANN62 engaging, listening and weighing in when he can, and I would really like to give him a chance as a PC rep. If Claudio is to be voted next PC I can see how much his engagement will grow stronger; I’ve seen it first hand on different fronts how willing he is to learn and how collaborative but also cognisant of NCUC values he is. I thank Bruna for having highlighted his experience beyond ICANN which are also valuable.
