1. Why do you want to attend the meeting? Which Working groups or
policy discussions you have been involved with and would like to be
involved further. If you have not been involved in policy discussions,
which policy discussion(s) will get involved with? (please provide
links to your mailing list contributions and your record of attendance
in WG meetings)

As Finnish EFF representative, I would like to contribute to
activating NPOC Policy work and help starting NPOC
Committee since I see it as essential to NPOC's existence. Attending a
meeting could prove useful in that regard.

So far I have made a draft of the new NPOC PC Charter, which I will
release for NPOC PC comment first and NPOC membership next, and
contributed additions to revised NPOC Charter.
I hope to be elected as either vice-chair or co-chair of NPOC EC
during the next meeting. NPOC has had its ups and downs, and has lost
its
policy contribution to both NCSG and its members - there is a value in
correcting this course, and additional value to NCSG through NPOC
becoming
more networked with international technical organizations and serving
its members better.

I regularly contribute to Public Comment work of NCUC, and I have a
couple of assignments from TTF and Universal Acceptance Group.
On RPM, I have mostly been an observer the last months. Geographic
names are of interest to me, and I plan to hold the Public Comment
Writing
Session for ICANN Fellows at the meeting: I have done it twice now,
and the hands-on approach received positive feedback.

2. How much support do you need? Indicate airfare, hotel, visa
expenses (Remember that we want to support as many mentees as
possible, so the less you ask for the more likely you are to receive
funding - of course, it also depends on your motivation letter- and we
don't offer per diem.)

I need funding for flights and a hotel. I continue from Barcelona
directly to ITU meeting in Dubai, as part of Finnish national
delegation to ITU.

My expense estimate is:

Flights 300€
Hotel (if same as other attendees) 7 nights * 185 = 1295

Total 1595

3. How much time, effort and work will you spend studying policy
topics before, during and after the meeting? And will you stay engaged
or volunteer to mentor future NCSG members? If you have been a part of
NCUC Buddy Pilot program or plan to participate in this or other
training programs within NCSG, NCUC or NPOC please mention.

Since I am applying primarily as NPOC member, I am planning to spend
substantial amount of time on planning competence training
for the newly elected NPOC PC which has a number of new people. I have
already started doing that, and preliminary results (community willing
to help with training,
understanding specific DNS policy related challenges of NGOs in
different regions) are quite promising.
I also see NPOC - NGO - Universal Acceptance - Localization
connection, and I hope to establish ties for this kind of cooperation
to work on a small scale.

I have been part of NCUC Buddy Pilot Program, and always open to help
the newcomers with what little I know.
I have also been part of the Onbarding Program, and plan to contribute
to Program keeping in touch and continuing its work.
