Dear Renata,

Over the last six weeks on our mailing list, members of the NCUC have
been working to develop a RightsCon proposal which relates to our
mission and constituency objectives. We would now like to ask the
Executive Committee to consider supporting its submission. I have
attached a copy of our tentative proposal to this email, and you can
also review the Google Doc here, where you can see the different
iterations that we have gone through in crafting this proposal.
RightsCon is very competitive and it is hard to know if this is
something which might be accepted, but I think it is worth a shot, as
this is something we could speak knowledgeably on. Thank you to you
and the EC for your consideration.

Best wishes,

Hi all,

Proposals are now open for RightsCon in Toronto next May.

Enforcement of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation
(GDPR) begins a week later, on 25 May, so I am thinking this could be
a unique opportunity for us to pitch something to do with GDPR and
ICANN's efforts (or lack thereof) to bring WHOIS into compliance with
it.

I have drafted a proposal on Google Docs. You can see it here, and
please feel welcome to make edits or to suggest additional/different
speakers.

If there is support for this proposal, once more refined, I will seek
permission from the EC to submit it. For now, it is only an idea.

Many thanks,
