Hi Bill,
Thanks very much for this “connecting“ email. It seems we have a very good and rapid start.
This afternoon (Beijing Time UTC+8) , I have had a talk to my Chinese colleague Jia He concerning the NCUC Brochure and other NCUC materials translation work. Tomorrow,we will have the opportunity of meeting face to face to discuss in details.
@Bill, to quote your word, let's name it "NCUC Materials Translation Project".
To fuel this good start of the Project, concurrently I have also engaged the translation team in CONAC (current members include Wen Zhai and Annie Zhang) to do this job as a team collaboratively with Jia He.
To involve more Chinese people, and make it known to NCUCers, shall we take this opportunity to make it a formal announcement in NCUC that we start "NCUC Materials Translation Project"?
Thanks for your support.
BestPeter

Hi folks
Just a quick note to connect the two of you on the matter of translating NCUC materials. It’d be really great if you could collaborate as you both bring a lot of expertise and background to the task. I don’t know if there are other Chinese colleagues it would make sense to involve as well, I leave it to the two of you to manage this process in the way you think best. Obviously, the outreach brochure is the first place to start, and then maybe you can build from there…
Let me know if you want feedback on what other materials might be priorities to translate, or anything else. Peter perhaps you could keep the EC informed from time to time on the progress of this project?
Really happy this is happening! Thanks so much for your efforts…
Bill

Yes, I do know my Chinese colleague. I saw her name in the Welcome Email, couple of days ago.
Actually, we are thinking in the same way.
In my previous email, I mentioned that "then I could let my Chinese people to help improve and make it better", with that thought, I was referring to Jia He in my mind, but did not indicate that to you.
Ok, I will communicate with her and work on collaboration stuff.
Thanks!

Great, I met her as well in Singapore, I think Benjamin (our grantee) was quite convincing in advertising NCUC to her. It would be great if through you Peter, and perhaps with the help of Jia He, we can involve more Chinese people! Thanks for your efforts

Peter, do you know our new NCUC member Jia He? She was a Fellow and joined in Singapore. I mentioned that you were planning to do some translation stuff and she told me she is already doing this for ICANN, as her academy has an MOU with ICANN and she's responsible for implementation. Translation is one of their main issues, and they have organized an advisory expert group to help ICANN and have prepared some sort of toolkit as well.
Jia’s very nice, and I would think it makes sense for you two to discuss whether to cooperate on helping NCUC with this, since she is already very deeply into it. Do you agree? If so I’ll send a message connecting you.
Best
Bill

Back to my hometown and just returning from looking after my family for a week, I am ok and keep watching our discussions.
@Stefania, Yes, I have been keeping this thread in my mind and expect to do it with you and @Bill.This is an excellent idea, which could make NCUC more localized in China.
I feel it is very good to start from the NCUC Brochure. When in Washington, Kathy told me I could circulate the brochure in China in order to let more people know NCUC, however, it is English version. Thanks for your idea, now I will start translating it into Chinese.
@Bill, thanks very much for delivering me the latest version.
Basically, I may need one week to finish the job and then I could let my Chinese people to help improve and make it better.
If all that is done, I will upload the Chinese Version in the EC List.
After the Brochure translation, I would also do other materials tranlation, let us move on step by step.
Hope we could publish and circulate a Chinese version Brochure along with other versions during the ICANN 53 Buenos Aires Meeting three month later. Very excited about that.
Thank you!
BestPeter
