I forgot you were doing this. Yes, you will get GNSO funding if elected, which I suspect will happen. So indeed, we may very well have an additional slot in any case. Peter and Joao are already supported, so that would leave Grace, if she’s interested...

Given the nature of the work, I think he would be by far the safest bet, in the interest of NCUC and NCSG more in general. I think the EC should publicly support Bill, and I would be happy to draft a few lines to sign collectively if everyone supports this idea.

She is an enthusiastic (still relatively new) member, and on the "condition" of the organizational membership she would be a wonderful addition to NCUC! We need to expand especially in the area of organizational membership, people who 1) might have their own organizational support to come along to ICANN meeting); and 2) who might act as flywheel for other organizations and individuals to join, acting somehow as "brokers". Nothing against Remmy of course, but we should always act in the best interest of the noncommercials.

I don’t know that we can make this conditional, but if she gets an opportunity via us it will be easier to encourage her to engage Hivos.

Please do, asap. If neither ISOC nor your grants provide travel we need to know.

Balanced with need/work, yes.

In this case I could ask them if Stefania could take over that slot. If that works, then we would have another NCUC slot available.]

She has been involved with civil society for a long time and I think it would be great to get Hivos, a substantial player in that space, involved in NCUC. Right now the only connection is her personal membership. I’d like to see if we could entice them into an organizational membership. Given that nobody on the EC has expressed interest in the opportunity, unless there are stronger apps in the next few days I would support her doing the program. It would be good to hear other’s views.

Previously I traveled on NCSG slots but this time it will be Rafik, Robin and maybe an NPOC person. So I will travel this time on one of the two NCUC slots. That leaves one to fill. Normally we would use these to get people to the meeting who are involved in the NCUC panels I’ve organized unless they have other funding possibilities. We have Stefania and Jia He as rapporteurs/remote participation coordinator on the two sessions, so they’d be the first choices. I am trying to find out from Jia if she can get funded by the Chinese. Stefania it would be good to know your situation.
