Dear NCUC Community,

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I am truly honoured to join the
Non-Commercial Users Constituency and to be part of a community that plays
such an important role in advancing the interests of non-commercial
stakeholders within the ICANN ecosystem.

My name is Thoko Miya, and I am a digital inclusion leader and the CEO of
GirlHype Coders, a South African organisation focused on empowering women
and youth from underserved communities through technology skills,
entrepreneurship, and digital participation. Our work spans grassroots
digital capacity building, internet governance engagement, and ecosystem
development to ensure that marginalised communities are not only connected
but meaningfully included in the digital economy.

I currently serve as the President of the Internet Society South Africa
Chapter, where I contribute to national and regional policy discussions on
connectivity, access, and digital rights. My professional background also
includes work in network expansion and connectivity operations, giving me
practical insight into infrastructure deployment challenges alongside
policy and governance considerations. My academic and research interests
sit at the intersection of AI in Society, digital inclusion, and inclusive
technology design, with a particular focus on enabling non-technical users
to participate in the digital ecosystem through accessible tools and
platforms.

I am especially excited to join NCUC because of its critical role in
representing civil society perspectives within ICANN’s multistakeholder
model. As someone working closely with underserved communities across
Africa, I am deeply interested in issues related to equitable internet
access, digital rights, meaningful connectivity, and ensuring that global
internet governance processes reflect the realities of the Global South.

I look forward to learning from this community, contributing to
discussions, and collaborating on initiatives that strengthen
non-commercial participation in internet governance processes.

Thank you once again for the welcome.

Warm regards,
Thoko Miya
CEO, GirlHype Coders
President, Internet Society South Africa Chapter
