 Dear members,

ICANN org is seeking input on a *Community Participant Code of Conduct on
SOIs and General Ethics Policy*. As you all know or remember, the GNSO
council failed to pass a motion last year from the Council Committee for
Overseeing and Implementing Continuous Improvement (CCOICI) that included a
recommendation on the issue of whether there should be an exemption in the
SOI for those prevented by professional ethical obligations to disclose who
they are representing in a specific effort. A recommendation that the
committee itself could not reach full consensus on.

During the vote, the contracted party house submitted statements against
exemptions and so were we. You can read Stephanie's statement here
<https://gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/policy/2023/agenda/perrin-statement-on-ccoici-report-25oct23.pdf>
.

ICANN org has put out a draft Community Participant Code of Conduct
Concerning Statements of Interest which require SOIs without exemptions for
public comment. Considering how involved we were on this issue, I recommend
we submit a comment on it.

 Let me know if you'd like to volunteer. Keen for us to submit early before
people start disappearing for the holidays.
