Hi David,

I think the proper course of action would be for you to either 1) resign from NPOC and run for an NCUC office, or to 2) not accept this nomination.

I do not think it is appropriate for someone to take up multiple leadership positions across the NCSG’s constituencies. Serving in both roles simply will not in and of itself build bridges.

You have served in leadership positions in the NCUC before, and you are currently serving in an NPOC leadership role. What actions have you taken over the past year to build synergies between the NCUC and NPOC?

From what I understand, you asked an NPOC member to nominate you for your current role, so you very much wanted to become a part of NPOC’s leadership. You are attending the ICANN meeting in Barcelona using NPOC’s precious and limited resources. If I was a member of NPOC, I would find it problematic that you were using their resources with a view to serving the NCUC in a leadership position.

I think this is a question of integrity but also one of fairness. We should allow more people, and not just a few, to represent noncommercial interests at ICANN. I do not think anyone should be serving in two significant and time consuming leadership roles when others have stepped up to serve.
