Dear members,

Recently an email about characteristics of membership to NCSG and NCUC
made our members send Chair some private questions.

Thank you for sending your doubts and always know you can count on us for help.

I've made a summary of questions and some replies

Q: What does this email mean? Is NCSG terminating membership or does
not want me as a member anymore?

R: No, NCSG and NCUC send periodically informative messages about
important topics. It is important to inform members too about how
membership is defined and main issues that can happen.

Q: Is it a conflict of interest if I'm a member of other organizations
like ISOC, IETF, IFEX etc? What if I am a member of an AC for longer
time than NCUC? What if I have even a leadership position in an AC?

R: None of these are issues. Many community members in ICANN are
affiliated with other organizations. Some of these organizations can
also even be NCSG or NCUC organizational members. For instance, like
the ISOC Chapters already affiliated. If you are affiliated in an AC
(like At-Large, RSSAC, SSAC), there may be no issue either. Just have
in mind that in NCUC space you are fighting for the rights of the
Non-Commercial User of domain names.

Q: Do I have to disclose my membership to other spaces? Where/how?

R: Yes, it is always good you disclose your affiliations for working
groups to ascertain who you are speaking for. This can be done in GNSO
SOI (Statement of Interest). If you don't have one yet and you want to
be engaged in ICANN, please build yours accurately here:

Best,

Renata
